You can get more out of life and help broaden your horizons when traveling.

There are many downsides to it, though. The following information offers tips to help ensure your travel experience is wonderful.

If use a computer that is public, do not enter any sensitive information, such as banking. These computers can have some keyloggers installed, so after you log once of your accounts, the person that installed these keyloggers will also have access to your information.

Don’t get set on just one destination.; flexibility is key. Favorite vacation spots may be fun, but you can make your vacation more interesting and memorable if you vary your destination. In addition, choosing another destination can save you money if you are on a tight budget.

When you travel, you should only bring along things you need. You’re more likely to have your things stolen or become lost if you do not have too much. Don’t take too many shoes, as they are usually the heaviest and biggest things you’ll take.

Dubia

This suggestion is not meant to scare you, but make sure that you are using a recommended taxi service as there is always a chance you could be getting into a bogus vehicle and robbed. You want to ensure it is a real taxi. Anybody can place “taxi” on a car, and you don’t know if they really are or where they could take you.

Remember to carry a book of matches or a business card from the hotel your are staying at with you at all times.

If you are on the streets in a strange city and become lost, this will be quite useful when getting directions from the locals or a taxi driver. This is really helpful if you don’t know the language well.

Write reminders of things you don’t want to leave behind in your room when you depart by using a dry-erase marker on the bathroom mirror. This will help you to keep organized. These markers also come off easily using toilet paper, so this is convenient and easy.

Vacation

If you are planning a trip that involves getting a rental car, be sure to review your vehicle insurance policy before you leave home. These rental car agents know how to sell extra insurance to you, but the issue is that you might not need it. Typically, insurance policies cover third party liability, at least in part. Look at your policy before leaving home to save money later on.

If you are taking a long plane ride, bring along snacks that you can eat during the trip.

Travel

Fresh snacks like strawberries, apples, and grapes can keep your voyage enjoyable and give you something else aside from the airplane food. This will save you the money otherwise spent on expensive airport food.

  • This was great Christine – I travel quite a lot, but not usually alone but I loved the one about carrying something from the hotel with the address on … I should still do that in case I get lost! And I have been some places I would not want to be lost alone in!
Loved the writing on the mirror one too – never heard of that before, but I often leave with things still in the fridge!
Your beautiful photos are giving me the urge to go… always a problem eliminating some shoes though 🙂

    • Thank you Jacs. It is best with someone with you. Yes it helps to remember the location you never know. I know what you mean with the pictures it makes me want to pack my bags and head to somewhere nice and warm and with winter coming my way and not excited. When I was single it was easy for me but now with 3 kids serious planning is required for me before I say lets go. Have a great week 😀

  • I wonder how many of your readers are like me, and never travel anywhere. I was on a plane a few times, but it was over 30 years ago. If I were to travel now, I would be clueless! It’s good to know there are people like you who share tips that may seem like common sense to the seasoned traveller, but are great reminders to those of us who have less experience.

    • Thank you Willena. Travel is awesome, I hope you get back to it again. That long is too long. You may look at it differently now. I think when you have access to do more of it you are more likely to discover it. Every tips helps whether frequent traveler or once in a blue moon traveler there is always something new to watch out for.
      Have a great week.

      • Hi Christine,

Life is funny sometimes. We couldn’t travel for so many years, because all our resources went into raising our 7 children. Now some of our grown children have caught the travel bug. Two of our daughters have been to Japan twice, taking our youngest son with them the second time. And my youngest daughter wants to take me with her to Scotland, Ireland and Wales some time in the next year or two. So maybe travel is in my future yet again. 🙂

  • Hello Christine, I just loved your traveling advice, I also fell in love the pictures, they all look so inviting. i do agree we shouldn’t get hooked on one destination, perhaps looking for the deal may be a good way to choose HUH?

    Thanks for sharing.. Chery :))

  • Thanks for these great tips Christine.
I love travelling and have done my fair share.
I like the tip about the banking details. My niece was hacked at the airport and temporarily lost quite a few thousand dollars. Thank goodness the bank could track the culprit. It was a worrying time for her. I don’t think she will be delving into her bank account at the airport again.
My tip would be – if you have to take heavy clothes, wear the heaviest – including the shoes. This way you will not have to worry about your luggage being overweight….

    • Thank you Liz! it is a scary with using bank card at the airport. Good thing the Bank is aware of such activities and they protect customers from such. Your tip is good. Travel light is always a good idea. Have a great week.

  • Hey great post, yes I would definitely bring my laptop with me instead of using the internet cafe’s as it’s a lot more safer and convenient as you can work from anywhere in the world and you have all the necessary files and or programs you need.

  • The funny thing here is that people jump into ventures to create freedom for themselves to travel more when the truth is you can already do that stuff. It’s as if they complicate the idea of traveling with success in business. I try to travel as much as possible to further motivate me in my business ventures. Great read Christine!

  • Christine

Great tips and thanks for posting. I have been a lot of places in my time and traveling can be real fun. The one spooky thing is the guy in your second picture is the spitting image of a sales guy I worked with 20 years ago!

    Thanks Andy

  • This was such a timely article for me, as now that I have the resources and time to travel, I’m treading lightly, and starting to travel in the US and Canade to get my feet wet. Just attending events and weddings, I seem to always leave something behind, so what a great tip that was for me. I also will be alone, so I joined a travel club so that I could meet others in the group and hopefully meet up with like minded peeps while traveling. Thanks Christine! 🙂

  • Great post. I have to say I don’t travel as much as I wish at this time because I do have kids in school and can’t take them out. The summer is best to travel and it can be done during the winter and spring break. However it is true, when preparing to travel it takes a lot of planning. Great info once again.

  • Hello Christine,

So glad I stopped by to read this post. I will be traveling soon to be with family. They live over 1800 miles away so of course this means time spent in airports with layovers. They don’t live in a popular tourist destination so travel is what it is.

Your best tip for me was to carry the business card for the hotel where I am staying in case I get lost out there somewhere! It’s funny, you may have it all in your head but if you start to panic, you can forget everything!

Thank you for the great tips and reminders!

  • Lots of good ideas, here, Christine.

It’s especially important to be vigilant about taxi services. There’s far too many nightmares about those services, as you point out.

Travel light, have your eyes open all the time (which means don’t keep your head and your mind in your mobile devices), and absolutely… use your bathroom mirror creatively… great idea!

  • Nice article i need to do some more traveling, do have a holiday coming up in the school break… not sure where we are going though
    Regards Dexter
